Size of the fridge for campers
If there are only two people traveling in the motorhome, a smaller fridge for campers is probably sufficient than if a family of four eats almost all meals in the camper and also takes food to grill with them.
Those who eat vegetarian or even vegan food usually need less space in the refrigerator because many foods can be stored at room temperature. A smaller cooling option is also sufficient here.
If you can or want to shop frequently, you probably need less space than someone who buys all of their travel supplies in advance and takes them with them.
If drinks also have to be cooled in midsummer, more space is usually required in the refrigerator than when camping in winter or during the transitional period.

Possibility of freezing
If a refrigerator is chosen, it can also be decisive whether there is a freezer and how big the freezer compartment is. Not using it at all can be a waste of space and cooling potential. On the other hand, if you also want to take ice or frozen grilled meat with you, you should make sure that there is a sufficiently large freezer compartment.
In many modern refrigerators, the freezer compartment is an additional feature. Thus, you can insert or remove it as needed.
Prepare the fridge for the trip
The refrigerator should be thoroughly cleaned again and freed from dust and dirt before the journey starts.
The absorption fridge in particular also requires a lot of energy. So it is always advisable to pre-cool the fridge 1-2 days before departure with shore power. Also, you should never travel with an empty fridge, because the air doesn’t cool well. It is better to put water bottles with cold or frozen water inside.
